Science Day - Changes!

As part of Science Week, we investigated quite a  few experiments with the idea of how and why things change.

Making a rainbow
Using skittles we arranged them in a circle to make a pattern and then talked together about what we thought would happen once we added water. Some suggestions were "they will melt, they will disappear, they will go blurry."

We added the water and watched and waited.

We were very excited at the results. A rainbow of colours and white skittles.

Melting pot

Next was the experiment that everyone wanted to be part of ..
Trying to hold a chocolate button in our hand without it melting. We chose where to put the chocolate button on our hands and had to leave it for 10 minutes without touching it. The results were very different depending on where we put the buttons.

The palm of the hand proved to be a lot warmer than some of the other chosen places and therefore we found the results very different.

 Rainbow Colours

We also explored what happened when we added drops of water to felt pen colours, which ones created different colours and also which paper was the best to use to see the colours blend and spread.

These are just a few of the great investigations we did on the day, we all predicted results, worked together to explore the experiments and found results, some more surprising than others.
