Sharing a book

During Literacy, the whole class have been sharing the story of The Red Prince. We sat in small groups and one member had the important task of turning the pages. We discussed the pictures, made predictions and practised some of our GAPs skills.

We have been working hard in PE to perfect our Teddy Bear Rolls, take a look at our short video clips to see how we have been doing.

Having fun with Gloop

The children had a great time experimenting with the Gloop.

Bulb Planting

We were invited by Hykeham Parish Council to plant some daffodil bulbs by All Saints crossroads.
There were lots of volunteers to help us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

We couldn't believe our luck with the weather as we were prepared for bitterly cold winds but got some lovely autumnal sun!

November 5th and The Gunpowder Plot.

'Remember, remember the 5th of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot!'

This week we have been exploring bonfire night. We've used a number of creative ways to make pictures and posters relating to November 5th and The Gunpowder Plot.

We made a cut and stick picture of Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators in The Gunpowder Plot. We imagined what they might be saying and added speech bubbles to our picture.

We also made a wanted poster for Guy Fawkes - we added adjectives to our posters to make sure we described Guy Fawkes.

We used a number of different media to make pictures relating to fireworks. We used chalks, paints, glitter and crayons to make some amazing pictures of the fireworks we saw.

Gloop

We have been exploring materials in science this term. Today we made Gloop out of cornflour and water.

We had fun exploring its texture as we could form solid balls and then watch it transform into a rather sticky liquid.

It took quite a while to clean it all up!

Fireworks in a Jar

Over the past two weeks we have been learning about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

As part of our science lesson, we created fireworks in a jar.
We poured oil and food colouring into warm water and watched for the results.

We didn't quite get the results we thought we would! However, as is the case when working scientifically, we discovered something else.

We stirred the oil and the water quickly and created a tornado in a glass! We then watched carefully as the oil and water separated and the oil floated to the top.
