Meeting the Knight

In preparation for the Knight's Trail and to celebrate 800 years since the Battle of Lincoln, one of the Knights visited the school on Friday and the children were able to ask Mr Merryweather from Allen Signs questions all about him.
Don't forget to design your own Fosse Way Academy Knight
and hand your entry in to your class teacher before 19th May
to be in with a chance to win !

Designing and Making Sandwiches

Take a look at the children making and enjoying their sandwiches.  They learnt how to spread and slice, working cooperatively with their partner.

It was great to see all of the children trying their sandwiches and new things, even if they didn't think they would be keen.

Growth and Change
Our topic this term is "Growth and Change" , we thought we"d find lots of changes going on around the pond , so went to investigate.

We discovered that the trees and bushes had already begun to change from the last time we"d been out and the pond was very busy! Tadpoles!

Looking closely, we could see how big they were and we are looking forward to our next visit to see how they have altered.

Cress Growing

Over the next week we are going to be looking at the stages of growth for cress. We have collected our resources together and talked about what plants need to grow.

We followed the instructions for preparing the pot and seeds.

We then made sure we watered the seeds, but not too much!

After Day 1 the seeds were 'hatching' and 'cracking'. The germination process has begun.

Some of the children have taken the seeds home. Lets hope they are well looked after and come back on Monday.

The class also wanted to see what happened if the seeds were in the dark and not watered.

Growth and Change . . . A visit to the pond.

To start our new topic "Growth and Change" the children visited the pond today. They were asked to use their observational skills and think about anything that could grow or change.  They found lots and lots of things as you will see from the photographs.

Flowers have grown.

The pond is covered in green plants.

There are hundreds and hundreds of tadpoles!

"I think next time we visit the pond the tadpoles might have back legs".
