Habitats

Take a look at the fantastic habitats that the children made. We had fun showing each other our boxes and talking about animals and where they live.

WoW! I have been amazed at the work and effort that has gone into our Habitat Homework Challenge. Well done to all the children that took part. Here they all are...

Microhabitats

Our Science lesson was great fun today.
We looked around the school grounds hoping to find a few creepy crawlies hidden away under rocks or logs, in long grasses and in leaf litter. We found all manner of minibeasts and quite a few frogs too.

Children in Need

Children in Need

We thought about other children who need help and support and talked about all the things we were grateful for.
We made a book with photographs, pictures and cut and stick Pudsey Bears.

Reading buddies

On Friday we met up with Mr Batley's class to share a love of books. We took it in turns to read and discuss the story, characters and pictures.

A wonderful Friday afternoon!

Reading with Mrs Sowersby's children

Today we shared our books with Mrs Sowersby's class...

An exciting PE lesson with the large apparatus

. The children loved exploring the large apparatus and were extremely good at following instructions and being safe.

Mr Toyne taught the children how to use different points of their bodies during their gymnastics session

Exploring Micro-habitats in the school grounds

At the start of our lesson on Micro-habitats the children didn't know what a Micro-habitat was but after our fun afternoon exploring our school grounds everybody could name a selection of
Micro-habitats, identify who lived there and offer suitable suggestions about why they were suited to their Micr0-habitat.

Under a leaf pile

A wiggly worm likes it dark and damp.

We were surprised to find a little frog when we looked in the logpile.

Remembrance Day

Today we learnt about why we wear poppies and why we fall silent at 11am on the 11th November every year.

We looked at objects of interest, such as a rations book, birthday cards and celebration notices from the First World War.

We made poppies using construction and wrote about why we wear poppies.

We will remember them.

We love reading

The children had a wonderful time sharing books by their favourite authors with their Year 6 buddies.  They bought in their own books from home from a whole range of authors, but Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, Francesca Simon and David Walliams were clear favourites.
