DT........sandwich fun

Peer Assessment in year 2

The children in year 2 have been working really hard on writing their own Fairy tales, after studying Rapunzel and Hansel and Gretel.

Today they learnt how to do peer assessment and tried helping their friends improve their work. It was a really successful session, with lots of lovely comments made.

DT - Designing, preparing and making!

We have had so much fun designing, preparing and making a healthy sandwich. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they began to evaluate as they ate!

Statistics and block diagrams in year 2

The children had a wonderful maths lesson sorting their smarties into colours and learning how to create block graphs. Thinking up appropriate titles for their graphs was the trickiest part of the challenge.

Smartie data!

We have had lots of fun using Smarties to collect data! We’ve investigated whether each packet contains the same amount of each colour.

Contraction building

To consolidate their learning the children enjoyed using the Lego contractions game to create contractions. It proved to be really helpful when it came to writing contractions in their work.

Using manipulatives

The year 2 children have been learning about multiplication. They all had great fun using manipulatives in maths today to help them get to grips with arrays.
Why don’t you carry on this learning at home and ask the children to show you how to make arrays for multiplication calculations you give them.
