We have linked this to our DT by designing a sandwich. During our lessons this week, we went out to kitchen to make our sandwiches. We used spreading skills and slicing skills to make our sandwich. Here are just a few pictures...

Following Instructions
In English, we have been looking at how instructions are set out. We have learnt about using imperative verbs to 'boss' people about!

The Allotment
We have spent some time at the allotment over the last few weeks. We have done a lot of weeding and clearing out.
Andy Goldsworthy inspired art
We have been looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and linking it with our current topic work on life cycles.
We found lots of natural resources around the school and made butterflies using sticks, stones, leaves and flowers.

A knight comes to visit
We were very excited on Friday afternoon when one of the knights took a diversion via Fosse Way before becoming part of Lincoln's Knight Trail which starts in May.
(As you can see, we were part way through PE when he arrived!)

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases!
We have been looking at the importance of good hygiene and in particular, hand washing. We watched some videos and then recorded a list of new vocabulary which included words like, microbe, germ, bacteria, hygiene, protect, spread.
We answered some questions making sure we used all this vocabulary in our answers.
Some of the children then dipped their hand in flour (pretending this was a sneeze!) and then moved around the classroom touching different items to show how easy it is for germs to spread.

We all agreed on the importance of washing our hands with hot, soapy water!

Meeting the Knight
In preparation for the Knight's Trail and to celebrate 800 years since the Battle of Lincoln, one of the Knights visited the school on Friday and the children were able to ask Mr Merryweather from Allen Signs questions all about him.
Don't forget to design your own Fosse Way Academy Knight
and hand your entry in to your class teacher before 19th May
to be in with a chance to win !
